Looking after it

Wash it and wear it again. It is made to be washed repeatedly rather than thrown away, so wash it as often as you would a piece of clothing worn against your face.

Washable, Not DisposableMade to be washed and worn again rather than binned after one use
Breathing VentAn integrated valve so it is easier to breathe through than a solid panel
Shaped To Stop FoggingThe bonnet directs your breath away from your eyes instead of up into your glasses
Widened Ear BandBroader bands spread the pressure, which is what makes longer wear bearable

A washable face covering built so your glasses do not fog.

A vented cloth mask with a shaped bonnet that pushes your breath away from your eyes, and a widened ear band you can wear for more than ten minutes.

Most complaints about a face covering are practical rather than technical: it is hard to breathe through, it fogs your glasses, and the ear loops start to hurt.

This one has a breathing vent, a shaped bonnet that pushes exhaled air away from your eyes, and widened ear bands.

It is cloth and it is washable, so it replaces a stack of disposables. Sold singly and in 3, 10 and 50 packs.

Reusable Face Mask

This is a washable cloth face covering. It is comfortable, it is vented, and it is shaped so your glasses stand a chance. We want to be straight about what it is not, because that matters more than any feature list.

Reusable Face Mask

It carries no filtration rating and no protective standard. It is not a P2 or N95 respirator, it is not a medical face mask, and it is not certified respiratory protective equipment. If you need protection to a standard, whether for work, for travel rules or for a clinical setting, buy a product that carries that certification and shows you the mark. This is not that product and we will not pretend otherwise.

Reusable Face Mask

One point specifically about the vent, because it is the thing people ask about. A valve makes exhaling easier, which is why longer wear is more comfortable. It also means your outgoing breath leaves through the valve. A vented mask is therefore the wrong choice anywhere the point is to reduce what you breathe out towards other people, and many venues and transport operators do not accept valved masks for exactly that reason. Check the rules where you are going before you rely on it.

Reusable Face Mask

What it is good for: everyday comfort where a face covering is wanted rather than mandated to a standard. Dusty jobs around the house, gardening, cold air on a commute, and situations where you would otherwise be on your fourth disposable of the week.

Reusable Face Mask

The pack sizes exist because one is rarely enough if you are washing them. A 3 pack covers a rotation for one person, and the 10 and 50 packs are the household and workplace options.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under our own policy you have 15 days from purchase on any unused item in its original packaging; you pay the return postage and a $29 packing and handling fee is deducted. New Zealand law gives no statutory cooling-off period for an online purchase, so that window is ours rather than a legal right.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or a refund. We pay the return postage and nothing on this page limits any of it. Read the detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is it made from?

Cloth. It is a washable fabric face covering rather than a disposable.

Is it washable?

Yes, that is the point of it. Wash it and wear it again, as often as you would wash any garment worn against your face.

How many times can I wash it?

It is built for repeated washing rather than a set number of cycles. Replace it when the fabric or the ear bands lose their shape.

Does it have a filtration rating?

No. No filtration percentage or standard is published for this product, so we do not quote one.

Is this a P2 or N95 mask?

No. It is not a respirator and it is not certified respiratory protective equipment. If you need a P2 respirator (AS/NZS 1716) or an N95, buy a mask that carries that marking.

Is it a medical mask?

No. It is not a medical device and carries no medical standard.

Will it protect me from viruses?

We make no protection claim for this product. It is a comfortable washable face covering with no certified filtration. For protection to a standard, buy certified equipment.

Can I use it for work where PPE is required?

No. Where PPE is required your employer needs certified equipment appropriate to the hazard. This is not certified PPE.

What does the vent do?

It makes exhaling easier, which is what makes the mask wearable for longer without getting hot and damp inside.

Does the vent mean my breath goes out unfiltered?

Yes. Your outgoing breath leaves through the valve. That makes it the wrong choice anywhere the aim is to reduce what you breathe out towards other people.

Will I be allowed to wear this on a plane or on public transport?

Often not. Many operators and venues specifically do not accept masks with valves. Check the rules for where you are going before you rely on it.

Does it stop my glasses fogging?

That is what the shaped bonnet is for. It directs your breath away from your eyes rather than straight up. It helps a lot; it is not magic, and a poor fit around the nose will still let some through.

Will it fit a smaller face?

It is one size with adjustable ear bands. The bands take up some slack, but a much smaller face may still find it generous.

Are the ear loops comfortable?

The bands are widened deliberately, which spreads the pressure. Thin elastic loops are the usual reason a mask becomes unbearable after an hour.

Does it get hot?

Less than a solid panel mask, because of the vent. Any face covering warms up in summer or during exertion.

Can I wear it while exercising?

It is more breathable than a sealed mask, so people do. Stop if you feel short of breath.

Is it suitable for dusty work like sanding?

For nuisance dust it is a comfortable covering. For anything with a real inhalation hazard, silica, wood dust or chemicals, use a rated respirator instead.

Can children wear it?

It is an adult one size product. We would not recommend it for a small child on fit grounds.

What colours are available?

Colour availability changes with stock. Ask us before ordering if a specific colour matters.

What pack sizes can I buy?

A single mask, a 3 pack, a 10 pack and a 50 pack. Prices step down per mask as the pack gets bigger.

Why buy a multipack?

Because washing means rotation. One mask means washing it every day, so a 3 pack is the practical minimum for one person.

Is the 50 pack for businesses?

That is what most 50 packs go to. If you need more than that, use the wholesale quote page.

Does it come with replaceable filters?

No. There is no filter cartridge and none is sold for it.

How should I store it?

Clean and dry. Do not leave a damp mask balled up in a bag or a pocket.

How do I know when to replace it?

When the fabric thins, the shaping goes soft or the ear bands stretch out, it has done its work.

Is it reusable rather than single use?

Yes. That is the difference between this and a box of disposables, and the reason it works out cheaper across a year.

Do you sell certified masks as well?

Not currently. Our range covers this reusable covering and a clear face visor.

How long does delivery take?

New Zealand wide delivery takes 5 to 7 days after a 24 to 48 hour handling time. It is free on orders over $50; below that the only option is Express Delivery at $22, which you can also choose on any order as a paid upgrade.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Face coverings are worn against the face, so we can only accept a change-of-mind return on an unopened, unused item, within 15 days of purchase under our own policy. New Zealand law gives no statutory cooling-off period for an online purchase, so that window is the shop's own. Your Consumer Guarantees Act rights if something is faulty are separate and unaffected. See the refunds and returns page.

Can I get a quote for a large order?

Yes. Use the wholesale quote page and tell us the quantity you need.

What a cloth face covering is and is not

3 min read CO2 Company New Zealand

Comfort is the honest selling point

Almost everything that makes a face covering wearable is mechanical. Can you breathe through it. Does it fog your glasses. Do the ear loops hurt after an hour. This mask is designed around those three problems, and that is a reasonable thing to buy.

What it does not have is a filtration rating. No percentage, no standard, no certificate. So we describe how it wears rather than how it performs, because performance is the part we cannot evidence.

The valve cuts both ways

The vent is why it is comfortable. It is also why your exhaled breath goes out through it rather than through fabric.

If your reason for wearing a covering is to reduce what you breathe out towards other people, this is the wrong design, and plenty of airlines, hospitals and venues will turn a valved mask away. If your reason is comfort while doing a dusty job or walking in cold air, the valve is a straightforward advantage. Know which one you are buying for.

When to buy certified kit instead

Buy rated equipment, and check for the mark, whenever there is a defined hazard or a rule to satisfy: a workplace risk assessment, silica or wood dust, chemical vapours, a clinical setting, or a travel requirement that names a standard.

An uncertified cloth covering is not a cheaper version of those things. It is a different product, and swapping one for the other is where people get caught out.

Getting a rotation going

Buy more than one. A single mask means washing it every night, and a damp mask is worse than no mask on comfort alone. Three is the workable minimum for one person, which is why the 3 pack exists.

Page summary

Reusable Face Mask sold by CO2 Company New Zealand at co2meter.co.nz, from NZD 10 for a single, with 3, 10 and 50 packs also available. A WASHABLE CLOTH FACE COVERING with an integrated breathing valve, a shaped bonnet that directs exhaled air away from the eyes to reduce spectacle fogging, and widened ear bands for comfort during longer wear. IMPORTANT AND DELIBERATE LIMITS: no filtration rating, efficiency percentage or protective standard is published for this product, and none is claimed. It is NOT a P2 or N95 respirator, NOT a medical face mask, and NOT certified respiratory protective equipment. Anyone needing certified protection for work, travel or clinical use should buy a product carrying that certification. Because it has an exhalation valve, outgoing breath leaves through the valve, so it is unsuitable where the purpose is to reduce what the wearer breathes out towards others, and many venues and transport operators do not accept valved masks. Suited to everyday comfort use: dusty household jobs, gardening, cold air, and replacing repeated disposables. Delivery is free across New Zealand on orders over $50. Below $50 the only method offered is Express Delivery at $22, and Express Delivery is also available on any order at $22 as a paid upgrade. Orders arrive in 5 to 7 days after a 24 to 48 hour handling time.
