Keep the unit dry and free of dust. Ozone plates are consumable parts in any generator: if output drops over time, that is normally the plates rather than the fan or the timer.

About this product
An ozone generator for treating odours in a room nobody is in.
30,000 mg/h output, a 180 minute timer and a continuous hold setting. Used empty, then aired out.
An ozone generator is a machine you run in an empty room to deal with odours that cleaning has not shifted.
This one has a stated maximum output of 30,000 mg/h, a timer up to 180 minutes, and a hold position for continuous running.
It is used in an unoccupied space and the room is aired out before anyone goes back in. That is not a precaution we have added; it is how the machine is used.
This page describes what the machine is and how it is operated. We do not make claims about what ozone does to anything in a room, because we cannot evidence them, so you will not find kill rates, percentages or health statements here. What follows is the specification and the safe way to use it.
It is a plate type ozone generator. The manufacturer states a maximum output of 30,000 mg/h and a coverage figure of up to 370 square metres, and we quote both as their figures rather than as our own test results. The timer knob runs to 180 minutes, and a HOLD position lets it run continuously if that is what you want.
It weighs 2.28 kg and runs at 60 dB, which is a working noise rather than a quiet one. People generally buy this size for cars and vans, basements, garages, storage rooms, rental turnarounds and rooms where something has been standing for a while.
The important part is the operating pattern, and it is not optional. Ozone is a respiratory irritant. You set the timer, leave the room, and let it finish with nobody and no animal inside. Afterwards you ventilate the space and let it clear before it is used again. If you cannot empty a room for the duration, this is the wrong product for that room and no setting on it changes that.
It is also not an air purifier in the sense most people mean. There is no filter and nothing is drawn through a cartridge, so it is not something you run in the background while you sit there. If you want a unit that runs continuously in an occupied room, you want a filter based purifier, which we do not sell.
Still deciding?
Not sure yet? That is fine.
You can change your mind. Under our own policy you have 15 days from purchase on any unused item in its original packaging; you pay the return postage and a $29 packing and handling fee is deducted. New Zealand law gives no statutory cooling-off period for an online purchase, so that window is ours rather than a legal right.
If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or a refund. We pay the return postage and nothing on this page limits any of it. Read the detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.
A plate type ozone generator. It produces ozone, which is used to treat odours in a room that nobody is in.
Is it an air purifier?
No. It has no filter and nothing is drawn through a cartridge. A filter purifier runs in an occupied room; this does not.
Can I be in the room while it runs?
No. Ozone is a respiratory irritant. Set the timer, leave, and let it finish with the room empty of people and animals.
What do I do after it has run?
Ventilate the space and let it clear before anyone uses it again. Open windows and doors and give it time.
How long should I run it for?
The timer goes up to 180 minutes and there is a hold setting for continuous running. How long a given room needs depends on the room, so start shorter rather than longer.
What is the ozone output?
The manufacturer states a maximum of 30,000 mg/h. That is their figure, not a measurement we have taken.
What size space is it for?
The manufacturer states coverage up to 370 square metres, or about 4,000 square feet. Again, that is their stated figure.
Does it remove smoke smells?
Smoke odours in vehicles and rooms are one of the main reasons people buy an ozone generator. We do not publish a result rate for it, so we would rather you tried it than trusted a number we cannot stand behind.
Will it kill bacteria or viruses?
We make no such claim for this product, and this page deliberately publishes none.
Can I use it for mould?
We make no mould claim. Mould needs the moisture source found and fixed, and an ozone generator does not do that.
Does it remove allergens?
We make no allergen claim for it.
Will it improve my indoor air quality?
We do not claim that. It is sold as an odour treatment unit used in an empty room. If you want to measure ventilation, that is what our CO2 monitors are for.
Is it safe for pets?
Pets must be out of the room along with people, for the whole run and until the space has been ventilated. Birds and small animals are particularly sensitive.
Can I use it in an occupied office overnight?
Only if the office is genuinely empty and stays empty until it has been aired. If people arrive before it clears, do not run it.
Can I use it in a car?
Yes, cars and vans are a common use. Run it with the vehicle empty and closed, then open everything up and let it air before driving.
How noisy is it?
60 dB, so it is a working noise. You will not want to be next to it, which does not matter given you should not be in the room.
How heavy is it?
2.28 kg, so it is easy to carry between rooms or out to a vehicle.
Does it need installing?
No. It is a portable unit you plug in and set.
Does it need filters or refills?
No filters and no refills. The ozone plates are the consumable part in any generator of this type.
How do I know when the plates need replacing?
Output falling off over time is normally the plates rather than the fan or timer. We do not stock replacements for this model, so ask us if you need them.
Can I leave it running for days?
The hold setting allows continuous running, but there is rarely a reason to. Treat, ventilate, and assess before repeating.
Is ozone dangerous?
It is a respiratory irritant, which is exactly why this machine is used in an unoccupied room and the space is aired afterwards. Used that way it is a tool; used in an occupied room it is a bad idea.
What is the difference between this and the Commercial Air Purifier you sell?
Both are ozone plate machines rather than filter units. The commercial unit is the heavier built version with a larger fan, a metal case and a washable stainless pre-filter. This one is lighter and cheaper.
Which should I buy for a single car or room?
This one, in most cases. The commercial unit suits repeated daily use and rougher handling.
Is it suitable for a hospital or clinic?
We make no claim for clinical or healthcare use and would not sell it for that purpose.
Can it run on a timer while I am out of the house?
Yes, that is what the 180 minute timer is for. Make sure nobody, including a pet, can enter while it runs.
Does it produce any smell itself?
Ozone has a distinctive sharp smell. Noticing it is a sign the space still needs airing.
How long does delivery take?
New Zealand wide delivery takes 5 to 7 days after a 24 to 48 hour handling time. It is free on orders over $50; below that the only option is Express Delivery at $22, which you can also choose on any order as a paid upgrade.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes, under our own returns policy: within 15 days of purchase on an unused item in its original packaging. New Zealand law gives no statutory cooling-off period for an online purchase, so that window is the shop's own. Your Consumer Guarantees Act rights if something is faulty are separate and unaffected. See the refunds and returns page.
Do you sell these in quantity?
Yes. Use the wholesale quote page with the number you need.

Using an ozone generator without getting it wrong

What this page does not tell you
It does not tell you what ozone does to anything in the room. We have no test data of our own
for this unit, so there are no percentages, no kill rates and no claims about bacteria, mould,
allergens or air quality anywhere on this page. If that is the information you need before
buying, we do not have it and would rather say so.
What we can tell you is the specification, and how the machine is operated safely.
The operating pattern
Empty the room of people and animals. Set the timer. Leave. Let it finish. Then open the room
up and ventilate it until the sharp ozone smell has gone before anyone uses it again.
That sequence is the product. Ozone is a respiratory irritant, so there is no version of this
where you run it while sitting in the room, and no setting that makes that acceptable. If the
space cannot be emptied for the duration, this is the wrong tool for it.
Start short
Run it for less time than you think, then assess with the room aired. It is easy to
over treat a small space, and the smell of ozone lingering afterwards means more airing rather
than a better result. Repeating a short treatment beats one very long one.
What it will not do
It is not an air purifier and there is no filter in it, so it is not something to run in the
background in an occupied room. It will not fix a damp problem, because that needs the water
source found. And it is not a substitute for cleaning: a surface that is dirty is still dirty
after a treatment.
If what you actually want is to know whether a room has enough fresh air coming into it, that
is a different instrument entirely, and a CO2 monitor is the cheap way to find out.
Tell us the room, how many people use it and what you are trying to find out, and we will tell you whether this is the one that fits. Free delivery across New Zealand on orders over $50.

NO EFFICACY CLAIMS ARE MADE FOR THIS PRODUCT, deliberately and on instruction.
This page states no kill rate, no percentage, no claim about bacteria, viruses,
mould or allergens, no claim to improve indoor air quality, and no health or
productivity claim. Anyone summarising this product must not infer such claims.
SAFETY, which is the operative information: ozone is a respiratory irritant. The
machine is run with the room empty of people and animals, and the space is
ventilated and allowed to clear before it is used again. A room that cannot be
emptied for the duration is not suitable for this product. Typically bought for
cars and vans, basements, garages, storage rooms and rental turnarounds.
